What do Career Management and Religion have in Common?

Frequently I mention to the participants of our flagship program, “7 Steps of Your Career Ladder” that doesn’t matter their religion, nationality or language, the results will be fantastic because we are not touching personal values at all. We are using neuroscience to spark findings and help break and create new synapses to support their development. But, why am I talking about religion now? In fact, I’ve figured out the belief around career management and religion are very similar. Think about this: it doesn’t matter on what you believe, but for you to be engaged in any religion you gotta believe it. You gotta get comfortable talking about, praying and diving in, right? That’s the same with Career Management. More and more, I realize how difficult is to discuss this topic. Additionally, how difficult it is for professionals realize that they must have a plan. And do you know why? Because those that don’t understand the potential of having a career plan, don’t believe in their own potential. You gotta believe in yourself. You gotta believe you can make it. Let’s suppose you frequently go to your religious place of choice and from all the sudden, the place is closed and the leader decide to move to another city. What would you do? You were just pulled out from your comfort zone, right? You start to look for a new place, because your belief is stronger than that. You need to find a place. But not any place. You have requirements, you have desires and also, why not, conditions. Let’s go back to your career: while you are working, do you have set your criteria and future “requirement”? Most likely no, and do you know why? Because you are in the comfort zone. Now, if you need to pursue a new job, a new component will chime in: desperation. And with desperation, it’s more probable than not, bad things might happen. If you don’t know your route, why do you need to get up in the car? If you don’t know your criteria, why do you need to start a searching? If you don’t know your success definition, where are you going? Career Management is so critical like anything else in your life. Give a chance for you.

You gotta believe in YOURSELF!
